Coachella vs Stagecoach RV Camping Rules

People still say "we're renting an RV for Coachella" the way they would have said it a decade ago, then send a photo of a car-camping stripe and ask if a Class C will fit. It won't, because it isn't allowed to try.

Coachella: no RVs, full stop

Coachella runs two weekends, April 9–11 and April 16–18, 2027. Coachella's own camping page states it plainly: "NO motorcycles, RVs, trailers, motorhomes, buses or U-Haul trucks," and "NO vehicles with running water/toilets," regardless of whether the tanks are empty. If the plan is Coachella itself, the RV parks off-site, not on the polo fields.

Stagecoach: the same grass, one week later, a completely different rulebook

Stagecoach runs April 23–25, 2027, at the same Empire Polo Club grounds, and it sells RV camping directly. Sites run 20 feet by 50 feet, wired for both 30-amp and 50-amp power, and each site comes with eight resort wristbands. Only factory-installed generators are allowed, portable units are banned outright, and the festival can still make you shut a factory generator down if the exhaust bothers a neighboring site; an exhaust diverter is their own recommended fix. Roaming water and pump trucks service the RV lots on a pay-per-use basis, a pump runs around $75 and a water fill runs $100 to $200 depending on gallons.

Check-in has a real catch for anyone planning delivery rather than driving in themselves: for the reserved RV lots, the person whose name is on the order has to physically be at check-in, wearing both wristbands, or the rig gets turned away. That's why we quote festival delivery as its own scheduled job, not a generic drop-off.

Stagecoach's own site doesn't publish per-lot RV pricing. Lots 4B, 5, 7, 8, and 10 are listed as available for purchase through AXS with no dollar figure shown on the public page, so budget for that number to only appear once you're in the actual checkout flow, not before. The site is explicit on one related point, though: resort bookings carry a strict "no refunds or exchanges" policy, and there's no separate weather or heat-advisory exception published anywhere in the resort camping rules. Late April in the desert runs warm most years; that's not something the festival's own policy accounts for with a refund.

The lot is in Indio. The city of Coachella isn't the lot.

Both festivals use the same name recognition, but the actual grounds sit in Indio, not the City of Coachella, which is its own separate town east of the polo fields with its own year-round character. If you're working Stagecoach with a delivered RV, you're on the polo grounds itself. If you're working Coachella without on-site camping, a driveway in Indio, Coachella the city, or La Quinta if the HOA already allows it, is the more realistic base.

Both weekends run into real desert heat

Late April afternoons at Empire Polo run warm, and A/C isn't optional gear for either festival. Every hotel on Highway 111 sells out for both weekends, which is the entire commercial reason a delivered RV beats a hotel search that's already lost.
