About Mount San Jacinto / Palms to Pines
The Aerial Tramway leaves the village and dumps you in pine air. You do not take the RV up the tram. You stage in a Palm Springs neighborhood — Demuth, the Mesa, Racquet Club — and ride the tram as a day. Overnight in the San Jacinto high country is backpack and wilderness permits, not a 32-foot trailer on the mountain station. If the plan is to sleep in the pines with the rig, that is Palms to Pines (Hwy 74) out of Palm Desert toward Idyllwild, and that is a different page with length limits. This destination is the tram contrast: 115° on Palm Canyon, snow sometimes at the top, and an RV that stays on the valley floor. Do not write it as a lake weekend. There is no lake.
