About Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
Anza-Borrego is a different desert than Joshua Tree. You leave the valley south and east — often Hwy 86 toward the Salton side — and the park is huge in a way Jumbo Rocks is not. Borrego Palm Canyon has developed sites with hookups. Tamarisk Grove does not feel like a snowbird park on 111. Slot canyons and the metal sculptures are why photographers come; superbloom years (not every year) are why Recreation.gov / ReserveCalifornia melts in February. Dispersed camping is legal in marked areas and is a generator-and-water job, not a hookup weekend. Length still matters on the washes. This is not a 35-minute polo-field drop and it is not the high-desert west entrance. Book the site and the rig together when the flowers are on the news.
