The city's own page flags this before you even call an HOA

Palm Desert's code compliance page states that RVs, campers, boats, and trucks may require a permit, and that vehicles over 10,000 lbs. aren't allowed on residential property. That's the city's own language, not an HOA rule layered on top. HOAs are a separate, often stricter, conversation

A lot of the condo complexes near El Paseo and the golf communities around them layer their own restrictions on top, sometimes banning any RV parking at all regardless of weight or permit status. Ask your specific HOA before booking a month-long stay in one of those communities, not after the rig is already in the driveway.

Two real events change El Paseo traffic during snowbird season

The Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival runs each March at The Gardens on El Paseo, drawing crowds into the same walkable strip your rig has no business parking near. The Golf Cart Parade is the other one, an annual event on El Paseo that ran October 26, 2025 for its 61st year. No confirmed 2027 date exists in what we could find; it has run in October historically, but treat that as a pattern, not a booking date. Either event fills El Paseo's already-limited street parking and pulls foot traffic past any staging spot near the district, so if your snowbird stay overlaps a March or October week, confirm the actual dates with the event before you commit to a nearby address.

Palms to Pines is the mountain day trip from here

Highway 74 climbs out of Palm Desert toward Idyllwild, a real elevation and temperature change from the valley floor in the same afternoon.
